AquaSearch and Trachsel formalizes cooperation on sales, distribution and beyond.
AquaSearch is happy to announce that the owner of TroutEx, Jørgen Jøker Trachsel has trusted us with future sales and distribution of his entire product portfolio of eyed rainbow trout eggs, including his well renounced late maturing strain. The parties expect to gradually expand cooperation into breeding and genetics.
The initiative means even better year-round availability and security of supply to AquaSearch customers.

The crossbreed strain between AquaGen and AquaSearch material has been in the making for some years, and we are now able to offer commercial quality and quantity eggs from this.
Considering the unique breeding work and traits of each of the two breeding lines, the hybrid is expected to set new standards in combining biosecurity standards and performance.

Genetic marker assisted production of commercially available products (QTL eggs)
Rainbow Trout is produced under highly diverse environmental conditions, harvested with large variations in muscle pigment level and sizes. varying from pan-sized freshwater reared to large 4 kg+ steelhead trout produced in seawater.
Such variations in conditions and production cycle, obviously calls for different genetics, and no single breeding line would serve all.
Consequently, AquaSearch has expanding our already comprehensive product program with the option to have individual batches of eggs custom produced by genetic marker assisted selection of the brood fish used.
Genetic markers offered include:
- No second winter maturation
- Improved RTFS resistance
- Improved white spot resistance.
- Improved vibriosis resistance
- Improved fillet pigment
